a crafty night: bird stencil
I had the whole night ahead of me, no new clothes, a shopping bag full of my worn-out T-shirts that even the thrift store down the street wouldn't touch, a #2 pencil, a wooden plank, scissors, an iron and an ironing board, and some iron-on transfer paper for dark fabric. Thanks to a pirated design from Dutch Trade Shop, I was back in business.
Find an image that you like online, one with clear borders that will be easy to cut out. Set your screen resolution to the lowest setting. Put tracing paper on the screen and trace your design with a soft lead pencil.
Place the tracing paper over the iron-on transfer so that the pencil marks are facing the transfer and the back of the transfer is facing the pencil marks. The front of the transfer (which will become the front of your t-shirt) should be facing down, into the table.
With your fingernail or a blunt object, rub the pencil marks into the transfer material. The mirror image of the outline should now show up on the back of the transfer material. Use scissors to cut out the resulting images.
Now prepare your ironing setup in accordance with the transfer paper instructions. Mine said to layer an ironed pillowcase over a wooden board over the ironing board, to protect it from the heat and create a flat surface.
Then peel off the back of the transfer paper and stick it on your T-shirt. If you're smart (I'm not) you'll position the images to strategically cover the stains on your shirt.
Fling the windows wide: you'll need the fresh air. Heat up the iron and iron the paper onto your T-shirt following the manufacturer's instructions. Ta-da! New shirt.

oh hey, naked as we came :P cheers!
modest mouse is my favorite band, so i'm biased! but it's kinda like you either like isaac brock's sorta lispy-talky singing voice and it grows on you or you just find it pretty annoying. that lyric btw is from building nothing out of something, which is a pretty good album to start out with :D if you like 'em save sharpen your teeth, brock's "side project" as ugly casanova, for last; it totally rocks. and, if you like that, you might try califone. quicksand/cradlesnakes is great.
um, what else? enya is my favorite singer-songwriter! seriously :D like watermark is my favorite album.
for newer stuff, bishop allen's charm school is awesome, prolly my favorite album i've heard this year, altho it came out a couple years ago. simple kid is pretty awesome too and justified his existence in the onion a month ago. he's like a mix of blur, beck and the beta band.
